Review: I recently spent time at the Catskill Pheasantry Preserve located in Long Eddy, NY with my Father-Law Lou, and my German Shorthaired Pointer-Max. Located in the scenic foothills of the Catskill Mountains only two-hours drive from New York City, makes this hunting preserve ideal for bird hunters like myself who don’t have a whole lot of time to travel away from the wife and children. The preserve covers six hundred acres of simply beautiful rolling hillside and woodlands. The hunting areas were easy to access, with plenty of cover for some challenging hunting. The birds were robust and good flyers. The hunting lodge is set-up with all the modern conveniences of home. There is also a sporting clays course available for not only individuals, but also corporate events. The staff was very courteous and willing to assist in anyway. During our stay, we met other hunters both men and women from various parts of New York State and even as far as Maryland.

Resident dog trainer Tom Dolan (Happy Havens Kennels) has 28 years experience training all breeds in basic obedience, field trail work, and gundogs. He offers one-on-one training at their gun dog training facility. Mike Foley (Owner) and his staff are knowledgeable, pleasant and energetic about what they do, striving to create the best upland bird hunting and shotgun shooting facility.  At the end of the day we left feeling totally satisfied that we decided to visit, we had a great time. I already scheduled another hunt.
